The National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) Announces Retirement of President/Chief Executive Officer

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – (MARCH 2021) Lucy Ito, President and CEO of the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) has announced her plans to retire at the end of 2021. D. Hilton Associates has been retained by the Board of Directors & Credit Union Advisory Council of NASCUS to conduct a nationwide search to find its next President and CEO.

 

“The Board and Advisory Council would like to express its genuine gratitude for what will be Lucy’s seven years of service to NASCUS. The organization would not be where it is today without Lucy’s thoughtful leadership, knowledge, and commitment. During her time at NASCUS, Lucy was committed to providing outstanding service to our membership, and for that we are sincerely grateful,” said Rose Conner, Chairperson of the Board of Directors. Mike Williams, Chairperson of the Credit Union Advisory Council, added, “We wish Lucy and Rob a happy and healthy retirement.”

 

Ito has worked in the credit union service industry since 1989 and with NASCUS since 2014. Lucy began her career with the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU), holding multiple positions leading up to the role of Vice President, where she worked on technical programs and legislative and regulatory issues in Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Asia, and the Pacific. Following that, she moved to the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues (CCUL/NCUL) where she served for ten years and became the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Lucy has an extensive volunteer history and currently serves on the Board and Steering Committee of the International Credit Union Regulators’ Network (ICURN), on the State Issues Committee of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL), and on joint NCUA-State Regulator supervisory working groups. Lucy has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Asian Studies from the University of California-Berkeley and a Master’s Degree in Linguistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her post-graduate work includes research as a Regents’ Fellow at the University of California-Santa Cruz, and she is a graduate of the CUES Advanced Leadership Institute at Harvard Business School.

 

“Working with both regulators and credit unions over my entire career has been completely fulfilling and it has been a privilege to lead NASCUS for nearly seven years. The Board of Directors and Credit Union Advisory Council have worked in true collaboration and shown genuine confidence in me, for which I am thankful. I look forward to my retirement and wish NASCUS nothing but success moving forward,” said Ito.
