First U.S. Community Credit Union Announces New President & Chief Executive Officer

Sacramento, CA (April 2023) First U.S. Community Credit Union is pleased to announce the selection of Shonna Shearson as the credit union’s new President and Chief Executive Officer.

 

“After an extensive, nationwide search, the Board of Directors is excited to welcome Shonna to the Credit Union as our next President and Chief Executive Officer,” said Jamie Gomes, Board Chair. “Shonna is an experienced Credit Union executive, and we are excited to see how First U.S. will continue to develop under her leadership, while continuing to deliver excellent products and services to our members.”

 

Shonna has over 23 years of experience in the financial services industry. Shonna comes to First U.S. Community Credit Union from Valley Strong Credit Union where she most recently served as Senior Vice President of Operations. Prior roles at Valley Strong included Vice President of Contact Center and Training and Director of Member Service Delivery. Shonna began her career at Valley Strong in 2000 as the Training Manager. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia and graduated with honors from Western CUNA Management School. Shonna also holds an SPHR and is currently attending the CUES CEO Institute.

 

When asked about her new position, Shearson stated, “I am humbled and grateful to have been selected as the next President/CEO of First U.S. This Credit Union is a fantastic institution, and I am excited to work with the Board of Directors and all staff to continue the growth and success of the Credit Union.”
