Business Development Manager (South)

Position Summary

Downeast Credit Union is seeking an experienced leader to join the management team as Business Development Manager. This position leads and oversees the business development department to ensure new business goals and targets are achieved while staying within budget. The role requires frequent travel between branch locations and community sites and operates on a flexible four-day work week with extended hours, adjusting as needed to accommodate branch visits, SEG meetings, enrollment events, and occasional early-morning or evening commitments. Responsibilities include mentoring and training staff; researching local demographics to identify growth opportunities; developing and managing prospect lists; actively promoting deposit accounts, lines of credit, cash management, and lending products to prospective members, SEGs, and dealer partners; serving as the primary liaison for existing SEGs through presentations and relationship management; maintaining a strong community presence; coordinating branch participation in outreach efforts; cross-selling products and services; managing direct marketing campaigns; and maintaining accurate, up-to-date marketing and contact databases. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.

This position supports the Credit Union’s South Region, which includes the branches located in Belfast, Richmond, Topsham, and Unity. The South Region reflects the diverse character of Midcoast and Central Maine, offering a blend of vibrant downtown communities, scenic waterfronts, and rural charm. Belfast, located along Penobscot Bay, is known for its historic architecture, thriving arts scene, local shops, and picturesque harbor. Topsham and nearby Richmond provide convenient access to the Kennebec River and the greater Brunswick area, featuring a mix of retail centers, small businesses, and outdoor recreation opportunities. Unity, home to Washington County Community College, is recognized for its strong agricultural roots and close-knit community atmosphere. Compensation

A comprehensive compensation package, including earned commission from all branch team cross-sells, will be offered to the selected candidate.
