Position Summary
Monterey Credit Union is in need of a strategic executive to lead the credit union in the role of President/Chief Executive Officer. Working in collaboration with the Board of Directors, this executive will be responsible for achieving the overall goals and objectives included in the strategic plan, maintaining the credit unions’ financial health and stability, and ensuring conformance with all applicable State and Federal laws. The ideal candidate will be a strong and exciting leader, with the ability to excite and lead a talented team. A Bachelors degree is required, CPA or MBA preferred. A minimum of ten years of executive experience within the credit union field or retail banking industry.

Founded in 1968, Monterey CU has grown to more than 17,000 members. Anyone who lives or works in Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, or San Luis Obispo counties is eligible for membership. This area is commonly called the “Central Coast Region” and has an estimated population of 2,348,601. Monterey CU is well-positioned for further growth and development. The Monterey Bay area and Central Coast region serve as the center of the region’s business, financial, government, and services activities.

Monterey continues to boast a diverse cultural population which has earned it the designation of “Language Capital of the World” with the presence of both the Defense Language Institute and Middlebury Institute for International Studies at Monterey. The region is known primarily for agriculture (the Salinas Valley is one of the U.S.’s most fertile farming regions) and tourism (attractions include Cannery Row, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and the golf courses of Pebble Beach and the Monterey Peninsula).
