Position Summary
Chartway Federal Credit Union is seeking a talented HR executive to join their senior leadership team as Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO). The CHRO is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources, including its practices and operations to position Chartway as the first choice for financial services in its target markets. The CHRO reports directly to the President & CEO and is a member of both the Corporate Planning and Strategic Planning executive forums. As a senior executive with great breadth, the CHRO will collaborate in the formation of business strategy and facilitate a confluence of organizational capabilities and people competencies to create a Leadership Brand that directly supports the business strategy. A Bachelors Degree in business administration or related field along with at least ten years in a senior HR leadership role in a growth-oriented, consumer-based organization is required. Master’s Degree in business or industrial/organizational psychology preferred.

Company Profile
Chartway Federal Credit Union, a not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution, has been proudly serving members for more than half a century. Guided by its Vision, Mission, and Values, the $2.2 billion credit union is dedicated to making life more affordable for its 180,000 members through nearly 50 branches and a full slate of online, mobile, and telephone banking services, including mobile deposit, mobile bill pay, and digital wallets. As one of the largest credit unions in the country – with membership concentrations in Virginia, Utah, and Texas – Chartway is consistently recognized for its financial strength, its ability to make life affordable for members, and for its philanthropic efforts through its charitable arm, the We Promise Foundation, which has raised more than $10 million to provide life-changing experiences that bring joy, hope, and smiles to children facing medical hardship or illness.

Community Profile
Virginia Beach, home to Chartway’s Headquarters, is located in the southeastern corner of Virginia where the Chesapeake Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. Virginia Beach has all the essentials of a coastal resort city with beautiful beaches and ocean sunrises. Get back to nature with more than 18,000 acres of state parks or tour the board walk, featuring a wide variety of restaurants and entertainment options to enjoy right along the boardwalk. Visit the assortment of lighthouses sprinkled along the coast or immerse yourself in the history of nearby Colonial Williamsburg. The area is also home to year-round events and festivals, including the Neptune Festival, Norfolk Harborfest, American Music Festival, several wine festivals, air shows, and large athletic events, including the Norfolk Harbor Chartway Half Marathon & We Promise Foundation 5K. Comfortable weather year-round allows for outdoor adventures, ranging from hiking, surfing, paddle boarding, and parasailing. Browse local shops offering a unique variety from one of the largest malls on the East Coast to forty blocks of souvenir shops and boutiques. Coastal Virginia is also home to a large number of global and domestic businesses from all industries. The area also features several large military bases, so it’s an attractive place for military members and defense contractors to settle. In 2017, Virginia Beach was ranked number one in the “Best Big Cities to Live In” assessment conducted by WalletHub.
